See Todd's Pages to figure your Raises!
Hello Everyone,
There seems to be some confusion about what UPTE Davis does regarding equity raises and re-classifications. I will explain my procedure on the subjects.
I will accept any equity proposal that UC submits to the Davis Local for any member.
I will accept any reclassification for any member to a position within UPTE or with another union.
I will object to any reclassification for a member to a non-union position that could be a reclassification to a union position. That does not mean I will deny a reclassification. It just means I will look at the reclassification with a "fine tooth comb". I have 30 days to do this AFTER I receive the notice. There are far too may people being reclassified out-of-union.
I will ask for documentation for any member reclassified to a supervisory position that supervisory training has been given BEFORE supervisory duties are started. Many of UPTE's problems are the result of untrained supervisors. I am also wondering why there is a need for supervisors to supervise 1-5 people. It seems there are not qualified people to supervise large numbers of people. Personally, I find this really strange and very costly.
UC blames UPTE for stalling in the above processes. This is NOT so. UPTE is the LAST in line to receive any documentation for any reclassification or equity proposal. UC blames UPTE for restrictions in resolving problems you bring up to management. I am certain that I can say that 99% of the time these reasons/restrictions are false. ALWAYS check when UC says UPTE is the "cause" of something.
I ask UCD Labor Relations, campus and Med Center whom are cc'd on this letter, to start a partnership with UPTE and the rest of the unions at UCD to develop high qualified management personnel that are able to interact with employees in a positive way and to STOP all this animosity/problems/etc within management that is rampant within the workforce.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
